Surprisingly Simple Ways To Stay Healthy and Prevent Cronavirus and the Flu

Why is hand washing and sanitizing such a big deal?

Ten years ago, my big brother had cancer, and I was his caregiver. The doctor explained to me that the majority of cold and flu viruses are spread through the hands. Unfortunately, cancer patients don’t get a cold and flu, they get pneumonia. I haven’t been sick with a cold or flu in over 10 years because I implemented massive hand washing and sanitizing as well as few other cheap tricks. What does ORAC value mean, and why is it important?

ORAC, or oxygen radical absorption capacity, is the measurement of the free radical fighting strength of an antioxidant. The higher the ORAC value, the more ability it has to reduce oxidative damage to the cells.

Increase vitamin intake

Vitamins B6, C and E are all known for their immune-boosting properties. You can get all of these vitamins from a well-balanced diet. Some foods rich in these vitamins include eggs, bell peppers, spinach and almonds. However, I prefer taking supplements daily, so you know that you got the necessary amount of each one.

If you have high cholesterol, make sure you are taking plenty of fish oil.

Vitamins are important building blocks of the body and help keep you in good health. I always take a one a day multi-vitamin. If it’s flu season or during this coronavirus pandemic, I’m doubling up. Walmart has the Equate brand that’s really cheap.

Calcium and Vitamin D are proven to aid in bone health, so in addition to a multi-vitamin, I also add these, per my gynecologist. Folic Acid is proven to reduce birth defects, take this if you are a woman that intends having children one day.

B vitamins are proven to increase energy and aid in neurological functions. I also add one of these. My doctor recommends taking the Super B Complex.

Magnesium is proven to relax the body. I struggle with anxiety, so this is one of my best friends. You can also add this and potassium with some pink Himalayan sea salt to your water. This makes it electrolyte water, something I drink daily.

Both Vitamin C and Zinc are proven to increase immune function.
