JLO was all ‘blinged out’ at the Grammys. The “Dance Again” singer, who donned a sexy, high-slit, black gown at the 55th annual Grammys awards on Sunday, also sported $5 million worth of jewelry. E! News is reporting that Lopez wore some handcrafted pieces by Norman Silverman Jewelry, including diamond bangles and a diamond bracelet. JLO also rocked diamonds on her ring and pinky finger matching her bedazzled-out nails and 10-carat diamond earrings.

JENNIFER LOPEZ AND MARC ANTHONY ARE STILL A FAMILY?

THE HISPANIC BLOG IS THE LATEST HISPANIC NEWS BY JESSICA MARIE GUTIERREZ

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony may be separated, but they’re still family! The friendly exes recently reunited to celebrate a birthday party — and even posed for a family photo with Lopez’s boyfriend Casper Smart and Anthony’s girlfriend Shannon de Lima.

Lopez, 43, shared the happy family photo on Twitter Thursday, Feb. 7, with Anthony and Smart posing on either side of them. The celebration was in honor of Anthony’s son Cristian’s 12th birthday on Feb. 5. The singer shares Cristian — plus younger son Ryan, 9 — with ex-wife and former Miss Universe Dayanara Torress.

Happy Birthday Cristian!” Lopez tweeted Thursday alongside the shot. “House party. Familia.”

Lopez began dating 25-year-old Smart, her former backup dancer, in October 2011. Anthony and 24-year-old model Lima went public with their romance in January 2012. Last month, the couple released a statement announcing they had split, but it appears they may be back together as the model retweeted the group photo, which Anthony tagged her in.

The big group shot also includes Lopez and Anthony’s adorable 4-year-old twins, son Max and daughter Emme. The two stars separated in July 2011 after seven years of marriage. Anthony filed for divorce in April 2012, but the split has not yet been finalized.

Lopez told recently USA Today that their kids “didn’t know anything” at first. “They’re starting to figure it out now, a year and a half later,” she said. “They were just 3 at the time.”

It hasn’t been a great week for Jennifer Lopez as she performed in Argentina earlier this week as part of her ‘Dance Again’ tour after she was rushed to hospital due to back pain and later robbed.

The American Idol judge was hospitalised with extreme back pain following a perfromance and took to Twitter to let her fans know how she was feeling. “Got an xray this morning…all good…pulled back muscle,” she said on Thursday (June 21) “Coconuts getting to big to carry both at once. Awww… #timeflies 😦 “
The singer played down the incident with a source insisting she wasn’t so ill that the show was never going to be cancelled. “She went to get an x-ray, everything is fine and performed to a sold-out audience last night,” her team revealed. “The show was never in jeopardy of being cancelled.”

The 42 year-old was reportedly robbed that night while performing at the GEBA stadium in Buenos Aires with personal items taken from her dressing room and her manager’s according to Primicias.com. Though a source latwer told Fox News Latino that “items stolen last night at the venue were not Jennifer’s” and instead belonged to production members. The source went on to blame the robberies on the “lack of security by the promoter and venue.”

Despite the array of problems J Lo seemed happy to take to the stage and perform an array of hits.

The story of population growth in the United States is a story about  Latinos reshaping our landscape. Over the past decade, they have  accounted for 56% of America’s growth, now reaching 16% of the  population, or more than 50 million citizens, even surpassing  African-Americans to become the country’s biggest minority group.  Latinos are certainly making their voices and preferences heard.
Such a phenomenon can also be seen in the showbiz world, as we’re  finally starting to see a positive shift in the portrayal of Latinos in  Hollywood. Cultural stereotypes are giving way to cultural authenticity.  As a result, New Generation Latinos, also known as NGLs, are making  waves and changing the conversation. They’re influencing traditional  media and making Latinos the biggest and fastest growing users of online  and interactive technology, mobile devices, and social media.
“Together, Latino celebrities have over 600 million followers on Facebook  and Twitter,” says Juan Proaño, the President and Co-Founder of Plus  Three, a social media and technology company for political and  non-profit organizations. “That is an extraordinary fan base that is  larger than the population of the United States, Spain, and Brazil  combined. With the celebrities adding at least ten thousand new  followers each day, the power of Latinos in social media is vast and  expanding.”
Latinos are now arguably the most important consumer group to  marketers and media companies. Their current buying power of $1  trillion is expected to hit $1.5 trillion in the next five years, according to a new Nielsen report. Mainstream  media is tapping in. ABC News and Univision News have recently  announced plans to launch a 24-hour channel targeting the Latino  audience. The as-yet unnamed, all-English channel will be the first of  its kind, ABC News President Ben Sherwood said in a letter to his staff.
And how about all the new stars being recruited to reach that audience. Eight of the members on Forbes’ recently released Celebrity 100 list are Latinos. Their combined earnings totaled $245 million, including the number one in the ranking, the omnipresent Jennifer Lopez. Born to Puerto Rican parents, Lopez jumped a surprising 50 places from last year’s list that measures power by earnings, media visibility and social media popularity.
A great deal of that plunge can be credited to Lopez’ acceptance  within the Latino community. In 2010, the singer landed a judge’s chair  on American Idol, one of the most popular shows among Latinos. The job  gave Lopez a platform to promote her music and turn her image around. In  the meantime, she also kept busy working on yet another talent  competition show, Univision’s Q’Viva: The Chosen, which was watched by  2.2 million viewers on its debut in January, according to Nielsen  estimates, giving the network a 37% increase in its time slot compared  to average viewership over the previous weeks.
Another case of success among Latinos is that of Colombian actress Sofia Vergara, who plays the loud wife with the tight tops and high heels on ABC‘s  top-rated sitcom Modern Family. Although feelings are mixed about  whether Vergara is a role model for Latino women or if she’s just  helping to perpetuate a stereotype, the truth is that you can’t escape  her these days. Besides her TV gig, Vergara can also be seen in ads for Diet Pepsi and Cover Girl cosmetics, not to mention her clothing line with KMart that earned the actress a seven-figure advance.
In America, as goes the culture, so goes the politics. Several reports have emerged on the importance of the minority vote for this year’s presidential election. Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney was criticized by various media outlets and political pundits for failing to reach out Latino voters. Meanwhile President Barack Obama is supported by 69% of them, according to an NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll. Latinos have produced the world’s most powerful celebrity.

IS JESSICA SANCHEZ RECORDING A SPANISH LANGUAGE ALBUM?

THE HISPANIC BLOG IS THE LATEST HISPANIC NEWS BY JESSICA MARIE GUTIERREZ

The entire time she was competing on “American Idol,” half-Mexican contestant Jessica Sanchez knew she had the support of the Latino community. In fact, Sanchez told The Huffington Post on Friday that it was that support that made her work even harder to win “American Idol” season 11. “It kind of pushed me even more because I wanted to make them proud,” Sanchez told us. “I made it this far and I’m glad I could do that for the Latin community!”

The 16-year-old singer from Chula Vista, California (who is also half-Filipino) spoke to The Huffington Post about her Latin roots, the Latino singers she most admires, and her plans to record a Spanish-language album!

First of all, congratulations on all of your Idol success! Thank you!
We know you’re half-Mexican and half-Filipino. Can you break down your Latin roots? I’m Mexican and my dad is Mexican, but I didn’t grow up with him speaking Spanish to me, so I don’t really know much. {But} I’m proud to be Mexican. I’m proud of both my ethnicities.

Did you grow up with any Latino traditions? I’m not really sure because I have both (Mexican and Filipino), so there was a bunch of stuff thrown at me, and I live in the States, so it wasn’t just one thing…
The Latino community really rallied behind you and wanted you to become the first Latina to win “American Idol.” Were you aware of the community’s support during the competition? Yeah, and that was…it kind of pushed me even more because I wanted to make them proud and I’m glad that I did. I made it this far and I’m glad I could do that for the Latin community!

Would you ever release a Spanish-language album? I would, yeah. I think the language is beautiful and I have {sung in Spanish} in the past. I don’t know how to speak it, but definitely in the future, I would love to do that. I have a really good ear.

Are there any Latin singers like Selena Gomez or Demi Lovato that you look up to? I love Selena – not Selena Gomez, but Selena Selena…Selena Quintanilla.

jessica sanchez

When Phillip Phillips was named this year’s “American Idol,” a lot of people took to Twitter to tweet that you were robbed. How do you feel about the reaction that many fans had? I’m happy for him. The last couple of days, we were hanging out because we were the last two. I couldn’t have been with anybody better. He is an amazing artist, he’s original and I can’t find anybody else like Phillip Phillips. He really fought for this and I think he deserved to win 100 percent.

How hard was it to compete on a show like “American Idol?” It was life-changing. I used to be home-schooled and I had my own hours – I could sleep whenever I wanted, wake up whenever I wanted and now I’m on this busy schedule and everything has to happen in order for the show to go {well} and in order to prove yourself as an artist. This show is perfect for people that are really serious about this. I fought through and I made top two, so I’m happy about that.

What’s next for you? Well, next there’s a lot of stuff. I’m going to do a couple of events here and there and then go on tour. And then hopefully when I’m on tour, or as soon as possible, I’m going to try and work on some songs for my album.
