It hasn’t been a great week for Jennifer Lopez as she performed in Argentina earlier this week as part of her ‘Dance Again’ tour after she was rushed to hospital due to back pain and later robbed.

The American Idol judge was hospitalised with extreme back pain following a perfromance and took to Twitter to let her fans know how she was feeling. “Got an xray this morning…all good…pulled back muscle,” she said on Thursday (June 21) “Coconuts getting to big to carry both at once. Awww… #timeflies 😦 “
The singer played down the incident with a source insisting she wasn’t so ill that the show was never going to be cancelled. “She went to get an x-ray, everything is fine and performed to a sold-out audience last night,” her team revealed. “The show was never in jeopardy of being cancelled.”

The 42 year-old was reportedly robbed that night while performing at the GEBA stadium in Buenos Aires with personal items taken from her dressing room and her manager’s according to Primicias.com. Though a source latwer told Fox News Latino that “items stolen last night at the venue were not Jennifer’s” and instead belonged to production members. The source went on to blame the robberies on the “lack of security by the promoter and venue.”

Despite the array of problems J Lo seemed happy to take to the stage and perform an array of hits.

IS JESSICA SANCHEZ RECORDING A SPANISH LANGUAGE ALBUM?

THE HISPANIC BLOG IS THE LATEST HISPANIC NEWS BY JESSICA MARIE GUTIERREZ

The entire time she was competing on “American Idol,” half-Mexican contestant Jessica Sanchez knew she had the support of the Latino community. In fact, Sanchez told The Huffington Post on Friday that it was that support that made her work even harder to win “American Idol” season 11. “It kind of pushed me even more because I wanted to make them proud,” Sanchez told us. “I made it this far and I’m glad I could do that for the Latin community!”

The 16-year-old singer from Chula Vista, California (who is also half-Filipino) spoke to The Huffington Post about her Latin roots, the Latino singers she most admires, and her plans to record a Spanish-language album!

First of all, congratulations on all of your Idol success! Thank you!
We know you’re half-Mexican and half-Filipino. Can you break down your Latin roots? I’m Mexican and my dad is Mexican, but I didn’t grow up with him speaking Spanish to me, so I don’t really know much. {But} I’m proud to be Mexican. I’m proud of both my ethnicities.

Did you grow up with any Latino traditions? I’m not really sure because I have both (Mexican and Filipino), so there was a bunch of stuff thrown at me, and I live in the States, so it wasn’t just one thing…
The Latino community really rallied behind you and wanted you to become the first Latina to win “American Idol.” Were you aware of the community’s support during the competition? Yeah, and that was…it kind of pushed me even more because I wanted to make them proud and I’m glad that I did. I made it this far and I’m glad I could do that for the Latin community!

Would you ever release a Spanish-language album? I would, yeah. I think the language is beautiful and I have {sung in Spanish} in the past. I don’t know how to speak it, but definitely in the future, I would love to do that. I have a really good ear.

Are there any Latin singers like Selena Gomez or Demi Lovato that you look up to? I love Selena – not Selena Gomez, but Selena Selena…Selena Quintanilla.

When Phillip Phillips was named this year’s “American Idol,” a lot of people took to Twitter to tweet that you were robbed. How do you feel about the reaction that many fans had? I’m happy for him. The last couple of days, we were hanging out because we were the last two. I couldn’t have been with anybody better. He is an amazing artist, he’s original and I can’t find anybody else like Phillip Phillips. He really fought for this and I think he deserved to win 100 percent.

How hard was it to compete on a show like “American Idol?” It was life-changing. I used to be home-schooled and I had my own hours – I could sleep whenever I wanted, wake up whenever I wanted and now I’m on this busy schedule and everything has to happen in order for the show to go {well} and in order to prove yourself as an artist. This show is perfect for people that are really serious about this. I fought through and I made top two, so I’m happy about that.

What’s next for you? Well, next there’s a lot of stuff. I’m going to do a couple of events here and there and then go on tour. And then hopefully when I’m on tour, or as soon as possible, I’m going to try and work on some songs for my album.

Jessica Sanchez left the judges breathless as she once again showed her powerful pipes and impeccable vocal technique Wednesday night on American Idol. The top seven Idol hopefuls were assigned to sing songs from the last three years.

The part-Mexican, part Filipino singer took a risk with the unfamiliar jazz and soulful song “Stuttering” by Jazmine Sullivan, but the judges gave Sanchez two thumbs up on her rendition.
“That was superb,” said music producer Randy Jackson. “What you did tonight for me is you set the bar really high.”
Jackson added that Sanchez showed “everyone what kind of talent level,” she has and that she has “the control.”
“That was at like the highest degree,” continued Jackson. “You did an amazing job. To me, right now, you slayed that biggest fish of the night.”
Aerosmith rock star Steven Tyler gave Sanchez top-notch reviews, not only on her singing but on her fashion sense as well, comparing her with fellow judge Jennifer Lopez
“Jessica, every time I hear you sing I forget where I am,” Tyler said. “But America doesn’t forget. You fish slay it every time.”
“You had the nerve to sing a great song and you had the nerve to wear Jennifer’s shoes,” Tyler added excitedly as the audience quickly got to see a close-up of Sanchez’s spiky black heels.
Although Lopez agreed with Tyler and told her she has “great taste,” she compared Sanchez to possibly her biggest competitor—Joshua Ledet.

Guess JLO might not have liked Tyler’s comment after all.

“That was really beautiful,” said Lopez. “What I’d love to see from you, is some almost like Joshua-type performances,” Lopez said bluntly. “You can do it,” she added. “You can show us something we’ve never seen!”

Sanchez and Ledet are two of the strongest contestants of season 11 and in the last few weeks have performed multiple medleys together, which have earned the two standing ovations by the judges and the audience.

On Wednesday Sanchez, Ledet and Hollie Cavanagh took on the first American Idol winner, Kelly Clarkson, and performed her latest hit “What Doesn’t Kill You.” Ledet on the other hand performed a rendition of Puerto Rican crooner Bruno Mars’ song “Runaway Baby,” earning him a standing ovation from the judges. Jackson felt the performance was simply “unbelievable” while Tyler said it was “like a work of art.” For JLO, Ledet was excellent. “A Joshua performance is so dynamic,[and it] takes control of the audience”, Lopez said. “It’s so much energy. It’s not just the vocals that’s what you do.”

AMERICAN IDOL: JLO VS. MINAJ AND LATINO SCOTTY MCCREERY GETS PLATINUM ALBUM

It was the battle of the divas on American Idol Thursday night as Nicki Minaj jokingly took a stab at Jennifer Lopez being the only female superstar judging the popular singing competition. The MC performed her latest single “Starships,” wearing a tiny dress that barely covered her curvaceous figure.

“I want to be a guest judge,” Minaj told American Idol host Ryan Seacrest.

Jennifer Lopez didn’t mind that telling Minaj to “come over.” But it was when Minaj asked “JLO can you scoot over?” that the Bronx diva was quick to mark her territory.

“I don’t think there is enough space for the both of us,” Lopez replied with a smile.

Minaj, a native from Queens was all giggles with Seacrest as he told the audience “Starships” is one of his favorite songs.

“Hello cute thing,” said Seacrest. “There were parts of the performance that were high risk,” he said, in reference to Minaj almost slipping out of her barely-there dress. The rapper avoided having a wardrobe malfunction by toning down her dance moves and opting to pump up the crowd instead, letting her backup dancers do the moving.

“Who wants to party right now?” Minaj yelled. The crowd responded with a loud roar.

Last year’s American Idol winner, Puerto Rican singer Scotty McCreery, took the stage and had the fans going wild.

McCreery, whose maternal grandmother is Puerto Rican and lives on the island, performed his latest single “Water Tower Town.”

“Feels like it was just yesterday,” McCreery told Seacrest about winning American Idol.

To McCreery’s surprise, Interscope Records executive and mentor on the show, Jimmy Lovine, came out. McCreery was speechless. Lovine handed McCreery a nicely encased platinum album.

“On behalf of Interscope and Universal music studios we’d like to thank Idol and the judges that picked you out of that crowd on the rainy day,” said Lovine.“[He is the] youngest male to have his album hit Billboard’s Top 200,” Lovine added.

McCreery, visibly stunned, was all smiles.

To date, McCreery’s freshman album “Clear As Day” is one of the highest selling debuts from an American Idol winner, selling over one million copies in the first three months, The Hollywood Reporter stated. Billboard magazine also named McCreery top new Country artist of the year in 2011. And he won the distinguished “New Artist of the Year” award at the American Country Awards last December. McCreery also became the youngest male singer in music history to open at number one on Billboard’s all-genre chart with his first album. “Clear As Day” stayed at number one for six consecutive weeks.
